Celine Dion Reignites Stage Magic at Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony

Celine Dion made a stunning comeback at the Paris Summer Olympic Games opening ceremony on Friday. Performing from the first stage of the Eiffel Tower, Dion delivered a powerful rendition of Edith Piaf’s “L’Hymne à l’amour” following the lighting of the Olympic cauldron. Dressed in a beaded white gown, she captivated the audience with her impressive vocal performance.

The appearance marked Dion’s first live performance since revealing her battle with stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder. Dion, 56, had previously paused her career in December 2022 to focus on her health.

Kelly Clarkson, commenting for NBC, praised Dion as a “vocal athlete.” The last time Dion performed live was in March 2020 in New Jersey.

The opening ceremony began with Lady Gaga’s performance along the Seine, showcasing “Mon truc en plume” by 1950s French music hall star Zizi Jeanmaire.
