The "General Hospital" family has lost a beloved member.

Leslie Charleson, who portrayed Monica Quartermaine on the iconic soap opera for nearly five decades, from 1977 to 2023, has passed away at the age of 79.

On January 12, Frank Valentini, the executive producer of "General Hospital," shared a heartfelt tribute to Charleson on the show's official Instagram account. "It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my dear friend and colleague, Leslie Charleson," Valentini wrote. "Her remarkable legacy lasted nearly 50 years on 'General Hospital,' and just as Monica was the heart of the Quartermaines, Leslie was the cherished matriarch of our entire cast and crew."

Khloé Kardashian Has a Message for L.A.'s Mayor

As wildfires continue to ravage parts of L.A., with many searching for answers on how the blazes spiraled out of control, one major topic of discussion has been the city's fire department budget cuts. While it's unclear whether these cuts are directly to blame, Khloé Kardashian has something to say about it. On Friday, Kardashian took to Instagram to voice her concerns with L.A. Mayor Karen Bass.

Kardashian shared screenshots from a Fox 11 interview with L.A. Fire Department Chief Kristin Crowley, who told reporters that the department is “understaffed, underresourced, and underfunded.” Crowley confirmed that the department’s budget had been cut, saying, “Yes, it was cut, and it did impact our ability to provide service.”

Crowley had previously raised alarms about the budget cuts in a series of memos last year, warning that they would affect the department's ability to respond to emergencies. However, during a press conference on Thursday, Mayor Karen Bass denied that the cuts had any impact on the fire department’s response to the ongoing wildfires.
