From Western Cells to Russian Stardom: The Unexpected Rise

When a plane landed at Moscow’s Vnukovo International Airport on Thursday evening, the arrival of the flight from Ankara, Turkey, was marked by a red-carpet reception. The passengers, recently released Russian prisoners from the West, were greeted with a hero’s welcome, although they weren’t celebrities—at least not yet.

Russian President Vladimir Putin personally welcomed the returnees, assuring them they would be well cared for and receive state awards. Among them was Vadim Krasikov, a convicted assassin, who now joins a group of Russian spies, assassins, and state actors who have been warmly embraced upon their return.

Some of these returnees have transitioned into notable public figures. For example, Anna Chapman, once detained for participating in a Russian spy ring in the U.S., is now a social media content creator. Maria Butina, who was imprisoned for failing to register as a foreign agent, is now a member of the State Duma. Viktor Bout, formerly detained for arms dealing and conspiracy to kill Americans, currently serves on the legislative assembly of Ulyanovsk Oblast.

Simone Biles, the undisputed G.O.A.T., clinched two gold medals at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, all while sporting impeccable makeup. Her secret? It’s not so secret anymore. Photographers caught her applying Fenty Beauty’s Invisimatte Instant Setting and Blotting Powder before the competition began. Priced at $37, this best-seller blurs pores, absorbs shine, and keeps makeup intact all day. Its translucent formula suits all skin tones, delivering a natural matte finish.

I’ve been using this powder for two years, and it often replaces foundation in my daily routine. Although it’s a bit pricey, its effectiveness and long-lasting formula make it worth every penny.

Fenty Beauty’s setting powder has made waves before; Rihanna was seen using it during her 2023 Super Bowl halftime performance.

This week, "Saturday Night Live" saw two cast members announce their exits, with Molly Kearney being the latest. Kearney revealed their departure on Instagram, sharing a post with behind-the-scenes photos and writing, “That’s a wrap on my time on SNL!” They expressed gratitude for their two seasons on the show, noting the honor of working with such a talented team and reflecting on their unique experience as SNL’s first nonbinary cast member.

Kearney’s announcement follows Punkie Johnson’s similar departure announcement made just a day earlier via social media. CNN has reached out to "SNL" for comments on these exits. The show, which debuted in October 1975, is set to celebrate its 50th season this fall.
